Trade books are always on my list of resources when I teach any science, social studies, or math unit. I wanted to save you some time browsing the shelves by sharing some of my favorite books to read with students when they’re learning about the sun, Earth, and moon. All of these are great additions to any astronomy unit in the upper elementary grades!
Books About the Sun

Sun! One in a Billion by Stacy McAnulty
The Sun Is Kind of a Big Deal by Nick Seluk
Books About the Moon
Moon! Earth’s Best Friend, also by Stacy McAnulty

Next Time You See the Moon by Emily Morgan
The Moon by James Buckley Jr.

Rocket to the Moon (Big Ideas That Changed the World) by Don Brown (graphic novel)
Moonshot: The Flight of Apollo 11 by Brian Floca
Books About Earth
Earth! My First 4.54 Billion Years, also by Stacy McAnulty
Planet Earth: What Planet Are You On? (Basher Science Books) by Dan Gilpin

I hope you find this helpful! If you know of any other Sun, Earth, and moon books that should be on this list, let me know!
